Essure
In addition to tubal ligation, we offer Essure as a permanent method of sterilization. This method is minimally invasive and can be performed under minimal anesthesia, at the patient's request. Essure is an innovative alternative to tubal ligation that involves the insertion of soft, flexible micro-inserts that block the Fallopian tubes. This prevents sperm from reaching and fertilizing eggs. Your ovaries will still produce eggs, but this blockage will prevent them from reaching the uterus; they will be reabsorbed into the abdomen. This method is irreversible and can only be performed on patients who are sure they do not want to become pregnant in the future. The procedure is not fully effective until three months after the insertion; therefore an alternate method of birth control must be employed until the three months have elapsed.
