LEEP

LEEP stands for Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure. This procedure may be recommended for women who have had an abnormal colposcopy result. A LEEP is performed by using a thin, low voltage wire to remove the abnormal cells or tissue. Most of our patients elect to receive anesthesia for this procedure. You will meet with a Healthcare provider to receive information about aftercare following your LEEP. It is normal to expect light bleeding and mild cramping. Please refrain from sexual intercourse, tampon use and douching for 3 weeks following the LEEP.
